Dear Friends of the Cohasset Education Foundation,
Welcome to the new CEF website! It seems fitting that we launch our fresh new website in the fall when everything seems filled with possibilities. As the dog days of August are ending, there’s a feeling of excitement and curiosity in the air and hopefully the kids are ready to take on the world.
The CEF’s mission is to capitalize on this curiosity and bring the educational experience to the next level with programs that stretch and challenge the mind. We believe the possibilities are limitless when it comes to the creativity of our teachers and our children.
Last year, we funded over $43,000 in grants across all three schools. For example, new Google virtual reality goggles allow middle and high school students to experience worlds they can’t visit in person. A mini golf set at the Deer Hill school incorporates math skills, physical fitness and collaborative work as students design their own golf courses.
This fall, our Osgood students will build musical skills and learn the fundamentals of playing in an ensemble with new xylophones that are part of an elementary band curriculum. And, over the summer, we completed beautification work on the exterior courtyard area of the CMHS Learning Commons, the last phase of the CEF’s Learning Commons project. Now students will have the opportunity to feed their mind and spirit both inside and outside the Learning Commons!
All these programs are possible only through the generosity of the families and local businesses who support our efforts every year. We have accomplished so much over the last ten years, funding fun and enriching programs and building an endowment that will fuel future innovation. We are proud to support Cohasset’s excellent public schools.
